Overview


This report was conducted in 2009. It captures the views of over 100 PE industry players related to their views on doing business in and investing in China. The participants were evenly split between European limited partners, European general partners and European company executives.

2009 was a critical year for European investors and companies. Not only did they have to deal with the impact of the financial crisis, but had to manage the huge shift from their home markets to China. This report captures the impact of the rise of China in 2009 for European LPs, GPs and companies.


What happened in 2009 impacted the business models of all the players. For example, many more investors are now seriously considering the potential for future exits to Chinese buyers. Many executives are expanding their activities in China to counter comparatively stagnant or declining home markets. This report captures the beliefs, perceptions, plans and concerns of the European private equity industry. As such, it is a uniquely placed as a benchmarking tool as well as providing an insight on the future plans of the different market players.
